From Bland to Bold - A Candle Brand Photography Glow Up
Settle Petal Candle by Calm Your Tits
One of my stand out shoots for 2025 was Calm Your Tits. I’m not supposed to have favourites but I had so much fun styling these bold and beautiful shots in the studio and around my home. I love a good transformation so I’m sharing the client’s before pic below.
The Brief
Terian Tilston is an interior designer based in Fife, known for her joyful spaces and use of bright colour. She was launching a home fragrance brand and it was important that the images reflected her design business. Her original pics were quick snaps that lacked personality and depth, with two simple plinths as props. We decided the plinths could stay and I got planning a studio set up to suit.

The Results
Using the colour palette that Terian provided, I selected paper backdrops and also cut paper arches to mirror the shape of the glass dome diffusers. These were swapped around and layered to create a rainbow of images across the product range, with the original plinths and jesmonite shapes to enhance the styling. The lighting was kept bright and bold to make the colours pop, with a sunny feel.
For the individual scent stories, a few key props were used. My favourite was the green ‘splashes’ for the Refreshed AF range - they were an effective way to add some zing!
I love the overall vibe, they have a playful (almost soft-play), pop art feel with a hint of surreal through the sense of scale the unusual props provide.
