When Anna from The Balance Brush got in touch about a photoshoot for her patented brush, I realised this was the perfect chance to do something a little different for me. We wanted to create 'glossy' images which could be used in adverts targeted at high end salons. The photos were to feel glamorous, with a subtle vintage luxury feel.
To achieve this I mainly used a seamless backdrop with minimal shaped props - an arch and a cylinder. I also had fun playing with balance visually, in particular with the balance illusion image, as a play on the name of the brush. We also did a few shots with pink satin for a more relaxed luxury look. These clean-look images are perfect for adding text to, whether that's on an advert or a website banner. This photoshoot with @capoladesigns involved lots of different little scene styling with an emphasis on light and airy natural elements with soft colour pops. The natural wooden table backdrop was used to compliment the natural wood of the products. A few of the more neutral props were used from one scene to the next to bring a feeling of continuity.
Stephanie also wanted some photos featuring the products being held to emphasize how they are ideal for gifting. If you'd like to book a photoshoot you can do so here. How dreamy are these cakes!? Two Flowers Bake is a Glasgow/Lanarkshire based bakery creating beautiful occasion cakes and bakes. This project involved a full brand design as well as photoshoot (I'll share the branding on here soon!). Jade wanted her business visuals to be all about the pink and green, that's why she picked me for the job.
I went to Jade's kitchen in Glasgow to photography these gorgeous cakes, armed with my pastel backdrops and vintage props. The final images are fun and fresh with a retro vibe. Scents of the Wild make natural botanical candles and wax melts. For this photoshoot Rachel wanted a witchy apothecary vibe with lots of props from nature. She provided some gorgeous dried botanicals to match the products and I sourced some little glass apothecary bottles to add to my prop collection.
I had a rummage and thought the addition of a vintage postcard, teaspoon and scissors completed the look perfectly. The final images are cosy with the mystery of a magical story behind them. If you’re thinking of booking a project, whether design or photography, I thought I’d share some tips on how to help share your vision. The research you do beforehand means you can provide examples for reference which quickly helps me know exactly what you have in mind (and if I’m the right person for the job).
This was such a cheerful and wholesome styling brief for Bluebelle Bombshell . Jenna provided some beautiful props which had their own stories and I added some from my collection to bring it all together. We wanted to create a sunny nature theme with a feeling of curiosity and inspiration.
The combination of natural props, vintage treasures and colourful pops work so well! This photoshoot for The Ceramic Button was such a beautiful Spring one! Claire's spring collection features a gorgeous range of ceramic decorations and we used a collection of whimsical farmhouse props to style it.
Tulips, daffodils, that adorable easter basket, hot cross buns, decorative eggs, gingham and an easter tree. Claire provided some of her own props (I love when clients do this!) and they worked so well with the props I already had with a couple of fresh ones bought on the day. When Rebekka got in touch about a dreamy pastel shoot I was delighted to get to work to create this aesthetic. She also wanted some photos of the jewellery being modelled to show it was for adults too. I loved how the pink coat and lilac striped top work with the overall theme - especially with the dinosaur pieces. Here's what Rebekka had to say: I absolutely love my photos taken by Jilly! I really didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted, but she managed to turn my ramblings into beautiful images. I found the mood board so useful too. I will definitely be booking another slot!" Have you made the most of your shiny new product photos?
It can be a bit scary making that investment when you just want to give your shop listings a makeover, but you can do so much more with your new images to give your business a boost.
Can you think of anywhere else to share your photos? If you'd like to book a photoshoot and get your very own shiny new images, you can do so here. I was so excited to work with Tracey from Enamel Happy. I am a big fan of my pink and yellow cups which inspired the theme of our vintage caravan makeover, so I'd already collected lots of the perfect props for styling this retro themed shoot. Tracey wanted happy, fun and stylish images to show off her range of products and she was delighted with the end result: From the moment I came across Jilly’s work on Instagram I was smitten. My products recently spend a day Jilly her in her studio and the results are just perfect. I will definitely be back for top up shots of new products and a Christmas one too!
