Booking a Project - How to Share Your Vision

If you’re thinking of booking a project, whether design or photography, I thought I’d share some tips on how to help share your vision. The research you do beforehand means you can provide examples for reference which quickly helps me know exactly what you have in mind (and if I’m the right person for the job).

Pinterest- I love a shared Pinterest board and it’s great as you can give me access then keep adding to it as you find more inspiration. Don’t just pin logos/photos you love, try and capture the overall mood of your brand and include colour palettes, prop ideas etc too.
Make a moodboard - obviously this is something I’m happy to do (and include in most of my packages) but it doesn’t mean you can’t show me yours to get the ball rolling. You could use canva, procreate or take a pair of scissors to your magazine stash - whichever way inspires you the most.
Give me names - send me details of brands which have aesthetics that you love! They don’t have to be in the same industry at all, though if their target market is similar to yours then that’s a bonus.
Sketch it out - if you’re feeling creative please do send over any doodles. Whether that’s a particular shape you’ve been thinking about or composition ideas for your photoshoot. Any extra input is helpful.

This was such a cheerful and wholesome styling brief for Bluebelle Bombshell . Jenna provided some beautiful props which had their own stories and I added some from my collection to bring it all together. We wanted to create a sunny nature theme with a feeling of curiosity and inspiration.

The combination of natural props, vintage treasures and colourful pops work so well!

This photoshoot for The Ceramic Button was such a beautiful Spring one! Claire's spring collection features a gorgeous range of ceramic decorations and we used a collection of whimsical farmhouse props to style it.⁠
⁠
Tulips, daffodils, that adorable easter basket, hot cross buns, decorative eggs, gingham and an easter tree. Claire provided some of her own props (I love when clients do this!) and they worked so well with the props I already had with a couple of fresh ones bought on the day.

You’re still using a ‘quick fix’ from when you first launched your business - maybe it was a template or a pre-made logo but either way it wasn’t designed with your business in mind.⁠
You’ve changed your offering and it’s not as relevant as it used to be. If your services or products are totally different from when you created your branding, they probably don’t align as well as you’d like.⁠
You aren’t attracting your ideal customer/client. If you’re constantly finding that customers don’t value your work this could be a big part of the problem. Your brand aesthetic should draw in the people you LOVE to work with.⁠
It’s holding you back (you aren’t proud to show it off). If you keep putting things off because you’re not confident in your brand it’s time to upgrade and give yourself the confidence to shout about your business!⁠
It was based on a trend so hasn’t aged well. It’s so tempting to see what everyone else is doing, but in reality your branding should be unique to you and not inspired by the most popular style of the moment. If your branding has already started looking dated this is likely the problem and it’s time to refresh your visuals. ⁠
