Jade from @twoflowersbake got in touch with a branding and photography project for the launch of her bakery business. Pink and green was a must for Jade (and what drew her to pick me for the job)
As well as logo and brand design, a notecard, business card and social media templates were required. These all feature a collection of doodles developed from the logo. They also form a repeat pattern for the notecard which is something I love to create! If you’d like to chat about a project please do get in touch or book now.

5 Signs That It's Time for a Brand Makeover
If you'd like to take the first step towards the branding of your dreams, book your project now! Over the Christmas holidays I finally had some time to work on a personal project. I decided to change our old Vegan Dundee blog into a new lifestyle blog "Wee Dundee". Wee Dundee will still feature vegan reviews, but also other non-food content - sustainable finds, local makers and shops, adventures, nearby nature spots, and more.
I had a lot of fun with this branding. We wanted to keep the colour palettes from both of our Instagram profiles, it had to be playful as the blog will be very family friendly. The logo has some subtle design elements which hint at the blog content - nature symbols in the form of the cloud, squiggle of water under the 'u' to represent the Tay, sunbeams on the 'e' for "sunny Dundee", and a star as a reminder of the star-rating reviews. We're so excited to launch the new blog next month! Check out @wee_dundee on Instagram to find out more. If you're looking to book a branding project, I'd love to hear from you. They specialise in hard landscaping and garden design. The brief was to create a logo which looked both fresh and formal, giving them an established, creative appearance to stand out from competitors. This was achieved by using a timeless heritage green and charcoal grey with a mix of strong classic typography and contemporary calligraphy. The illustrated elements are simple line drawings which are inspired by vintage etchings, and represent the surrounding Scottish landscapes. Noble Landscapes also required an eye-catching design for their van which is one of their most valuable marketing assets. The logo was then used for embroidered uniform for the team. The design work that Jilly has done for us has made a huge impact on our business. Countless new clients have told us it was our van design and website graphics that made us stand out from our competitors. It has really helped us connect with our ideal client base and I would highly recommend JillyJilly to any business needing to invest in a bespoke professional design package. Julie Barmer is a glass artist who creates beautiful fused glass pieces for the home, inspired by nature.
Julie wanted her branding to reflect her love of seascapes and feature fluid lines. The final logo was developed to include overlapping organic shapes to represent the fusing of the glass pieces. The 'bubbles' and lines enhance the sea inspired style, but also reflect the little details found in Julie's work. A soft watercolour texture was added along with contemporary fonts to give it a relaxed, modern feel. Julie also required a business card design and has since used her logo to have a custom packaging stamp made. If you'd like to book a rebrand you can do so here Peachy Dream is a boutique home-based day spa in Rosemount, Aberdeen offering a range of beauty and spa treatments. Amy had an idea of the colours she wanted included so we used this as a starting point. The brand design features a minimal peach shape which is used throughout, with textured elements and hand lettering style typography. Overall, we wanted to create a dreamy nostalgic aesthetic with an uplifting feel. 'Cheeky peachy' phrases are used on the printed materials to make clients smile and this is continued inside the spa through the selection of artwork for the gallery wall. Amy also required a moodboard to show how the Peachy Dream brand could be carried through to the interior of the spa. Once she had the spa beautifully decorated she booked a personal brand photoshoot so she could show it off on her website and social media. This brought all of the elements together to give her clients the full Peachy Dream brand experience. Jilly’s work is exceptional! I started my day spa in 2020 and really couldn’t have done it without Jilly’s help. Jilly really listened to exactly what I was looking for in creating my logo and branding. Everything looks so pretty and professional. From logo design, vouchers, loyalty cards and price lists - Jilly can do it all! And I even got a photo shoot of my work room and myself working, she made me feel so relaxed while doing it. Not only do I LOVE your work but my clients always compliment too! I would highly recommended Jilly to anyone. Thank you so much again If you'd like to book a branding project you can do so here.
JillyJilly turned 6 in May. I didn't have any business Birthday celebrations as, truth be told, I'd fallen out of love with my business some time ago. I had been wanting to make some big changes but wasn't sure where to start or what I was actually aiming for, so it all seemed incredibly overwhelming and much easier to just ignore it. Despite business mentoring in the past, I'm rubbish when it comes to listening to my own advice!
I closed my shop at the start of lockdown. I was worried about sending parcels which were non-essential when the postal service was struggling. I was becoming very aware of making 'stuff' and the whole process - from supplies arriving in unnecessary plastic packaging, wasteful seconds etc. I was making more sustainable choices in other aspects of my life so I wanted my business to match up to this too. After taking some time to reflect I decided to start over - rebuild, refresh, rebrand. So let me introduce you to the new JillyJilly! My new branding was actually inspired by my new workspace, we created this using existing bits and pieces with the help of some leftover paint. My old branding was pink, mint and lilac so it felt like a nice transition to a softer, nature inspired palette. The hand drawn typography feels a bit vintage, and I liked the playfulness of a reversible logo. Since you're here, you've probably already noticed this is a whole new website. There's no longer a shop, though there will be a shop for the digital download products I'm working on. One of the main focuses now is design and photography services for indie businesses. I've spent time putting together examples of some of my favourite past projects, along with pre-priced packages for these services. I'll be using the blog a little more as I've already got a few DIY projects to share - these were always the most popular in the past! I want to be able to share more personal content featuring the things I'm most passionate about. A mix of thrifty finds, upcycling, home interiors, adventures and my favourite small businesses. I'm feeling so excited about my wee business for the first time in ages! It's so nice to be back. Mafalda Media is a Dundee based digital marketing agency which offers social media management and workshops. The brief was initially to create a minimal monochrome logo which could develop as the brand grew. Later on, I designed the graphics for Mafalda Media's social media planner which was a full printable workbook with calendar pages. I was also asked to design digital assets for use through social media content. This included illustrated icons for Instagram highlights, templates for creating quote graphics and countdown numbers for announcements. We then had a photoshoot to create mock-ups for the workbook pages so they could easily be adapted in future. Jilly created stunning graphics and photographs for the launch of our website and social media platforms, Jilly was great to work with. When it comes to branding and photography we recommend Jilly to our clients every time" If you'd like to book a branding project or photoshoot you can do so here.
Vegan Dundee is a lifestyle blog which features reviews of the vegan options available at local cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as vegan brands and events in Dundee.
The brief was just for a super simple cute and contemporary logo to go with the laid back style of the blog. We considered more obvious 'vegan' shapes but went with the geometric design as it gives a fun yet sleek look which suits the blog website layout. This was then used to create a business card design which was kept minimal, using the same triangles on reverse in a scattered layout, along with another handwritten style font emphasising the relaxed and personal vibe. If you'd like to book a branding project you can do so here. The Dundee Etsy Team is a community group for local Etsy sellers who hold meet ups, workshops and events. Etsy teams cannot use the official Etsy logo but may take inspiration to make their own team branding.
This meant that orange needed to be a key feature of this branding. This was then paired with a mix of fonts associated with craft - typewritten with a vintage feel, calligraphy and 'papercut' style. Over the years I've also created promotional graphics for the Dundee Etsy Team events, workshop hand outs and goody bag accessories. These all have different hand drawn elements and patterns for a creative mismatched vibe but use the same colours and fonts throughout to keep some consistency.
